IEP (Individualized Education Plan)
A written plan created specifically for you that outlines your educational goals and the support you will receive.
Example: Your IEP might include extra time for tests or a quiet place to work.
Accommodations
Changes in how you learn or show what you know, without changing what you are expected to learn.
Example: Using a calculator for math tests, or having someone read questions aloud, checklists, and speech to text.
Modifications
Changes to what you are expected to learn or do, making the work different from your classmates.
Example: Reading lower level texts in class, while everyone reads another passage, or reading shorter passages.
Related Services
Extra support services that help you benefit from your education.
Example: Speech classes, occupational therapy, or counseling services.
LRE (Least Restrictive Environment)
The setting where you can learn best while still being with students without disabilities as much as possible.
Example: Being in classes with support instead of in a separate special education class.
Transition Services
Services that help you prepare for high school and life after high school, including college, work, and independent living.
Example: Job Training, college preparation or life skills instruction.
